Finally continuing Devil Venerable Also Wants to Know and I almost forgot how much I absolutely adored Zhongli Qian. Because his sort of archetype of character usually bores me (well, the righteous scholar type, but if you look at him more as a “I don’t get paid enough for this” “most competent person there” type right away, than of course I like him) but in practice he’s great. Also his role in the story is just kind of bizarre and it makes him ten times better.
Like, he was one of the original protagonist’s love interest but then the Actual Protagonist of THIS story tried to forcibly set them up through the power of evil soul-linking bugs to get the original protagonist to get over her shitty ex for good, but it turns out he, just like the Actual Protagonist, doesn’t like her either, and is so intensely AroAce that he becomes her platonic soulmate and he’s just kind of so chill about this whole “forced to be connected with someone for the rest of eternity” thing that he’s willing to do things to help the people that did it to him, because hey at least he doesn’t have to deal with the responsibility of being perfect anymore. They form a little found family who are kind of the main characters but actually aren’t the main characters because Wenren E and Yin Hanjiang are the main characters but due to the nature of the story we still follow them bc they’re the main characters of one of the books Wenren E has. Every woman except the two he’s regularly in contact with are in love with him and he is just NOT interested, and despite this being danmei, this doesn’t feel like side-character gay-coding at all. He is one of the most important characters in the story due to his roll as the straight man, but he’s also too chill about the fucked up stuff going on that it actually just makes him feel a bit unhinged. He is such an asset to the main characters that he was just forcibly given a job that a bunch of people were fighting over even though he doesn’t work there. He is the only person who ever knows what’s going on and he’s not the one with four semi-omnipotent books. Truly one of the best characters of all time.

Hello hello! I’m gonna try and keep this straight forward but I (21+) am looking for an oc rp, mxm pairing, to satisfy the itch of some sweet (horrible) murder husbands dynamics! I can offer you two guys;
Muse A: Does one of your horrible muses crave a mouldable mind and a desperation to please? Do they want a man whose entire world begins and ends with them, who exists only for and because of them? Someone they can do anything to and they’ll beg for more; someone who would ruin themselves and burn the world down all for them? The perfect sacrificial lamb for their sadistic whims, yet would just as quickly kill them if they thought they weren’t getting enough attention anymore? Utter obsession that could consume them both; he’s reckless, erratic, impulsive, and swings from being the sweetest man around to an absolute nightmare when he’s upset. Readily commits atrocities in the name of Love and would gut someone to give your guy a real heart for Valentine’s Day, truly a sweetheart.
And in the opposite vein, we have muse B; suave, smooth talking, an upstanding citizen with a good home, good career, and sparkling reputation. Loved by all, even if he’s a bit socially awkward, a bit odd in the way that something in your hindbrain doesn’t like instinctually. He has a pristine mask to cover sadistic tendencies and a large and ever growing body count. Commits atrocities as a casual hobby. Sociopathic, narcissistic, views people as toys and prey and is getting increasingly bored. Intelligent, cunning and strategic, he’s hard to pin down and his horrible history and actions remain a complete secret.
Would particularly love for this to be set in the 50s-70s! Open to playing them against a lot of types of people!! Killerxkiller, copycat killers, stalkers, journalists, detectives, relatives of a victim, etc. But, like I said, looking for a particular murder husbands dynamic, so I’m not looking for innocent victims! Give me your corrupt, obsessive, irredeemable, evil, sadistic freaks!! Looking for mature muses (please no fresh faced 21 year olds) and I use irl faceclaims; open to nsfw and would love to play with different dom/sub/top/bottom dynamics and kinks that two fucked up freaky guys might have! I will put a disclaimer: I am looking for dark content. Not vague mentions of past murder and justifications for it and whatnot. Graphic violence, gore, torture, reference/implied harm to animals, toxic relationships, self harm, drug use (consensual and not), dubcon, stalking, all that horrible stuff. Of course limits will be respected and all but if you’re against evil characters doing evil things in evil ways that aren’t sexy enough to justify, this won’t be for you!
Looking for partners 21+, multi-para to novella (I can write a lot when we get going, but don’t expect pages upon pages every reply). Love ooc chat and sending aesthetics and songs and whatnot, and do not mind how long replies take so long as we’re having fun! Usually write on discord but open to other places so don’t let that deter you! Gonna wrap this up now since it’s way too long, can’t wait to plot!🗡️

morse being queer (and other commentary) pt 15:
season 4, episode 3, “Lazaretto”:
- my expectations are really low for this episode
- the last episode was so aggressively gay i’m just assuming this one won’t be
- unfortunate but here we are!
- ew i hate hospitals
- i love old nurse uniforms though
- elite fashion tbh
- morse in a wife beater agenda ‼️
- of fucking course joan called him from a goddam pay phone
- i’m IRRITATED 🗣️
- my tv is glitching the fuck out
- fixed it!
- anyways
- the head nurse reminds me of the sister in fleabag and i always think it’s her but it’s not
- and that’s my story
- morse uses the same body language with debryn that he uses with women he’s attracted to
- i’m just saying 🤷‍♀️
- the way everyone looks at the parrot is so fucking funny
- we are barely ten minutes into this episode and we’re already headed to the armory
- NO BRIGHT NO
- anyone but bright.
- you can kill ANY CHARACTER
- bright killed a tiger tho i’m pretty sure he’s immortal at this point
- no because listen
- debryn is perfect for morse
- IM SERIOUS
- he comes to the hospital immediately out of loyalty to the precinct and also because he knows morse is there alone
- he immediately tells morse who is in the operating room and that the surgeon is talented and morse doesn’t have to worry
- and then promises to go see what’s what for morse so he doesn’t have to wear himself out
- and THEN he brings morse’s mind back to the case hes working on because he knows morse copes by working and wants to take his mind off bright
- debryn knows all the ins and outs of morse’s brain and respects every facet of him and works in favor of him every time without fail
- hes fucking perfect
- i love him
- everyone loves bright so much i’m sick
- the head nurse reminds me of the evil lady from chicken run
- i hate this lady caroline
- she didn’t really do anything wrong in this moment with morse but like
- you are the mother of the woman who broke morse as a human being and forever scarred his perception of love
- and then ur gonna brag about what her new man is doing? just to rub it in that he “wasn’t good enough” for her and still isn’t?
- despicable.
- i don’t even wanna promote the queer aspects of that even tho it would be easy to
- because that was just fucking cruel
- and morse deserved better
- it cannot be comfortable for bakewell to have his arm cuffed up like that for that long
- they should do it lower for sure
- justice for winnie ‼️‼️‼️
- i love her i just want her to be happy
- trewlove is so worried about bright
- bright and trewlove 🤞🤞 i love them
- “We were engaged to be married. And then we weren’t.”
- THIS is why morse is the most relateable fictional character ever to me personally
- because he SIMPLIFIES this sort of stuff
- he could tell the whole story
- say what transpired and why she left and what he did wrong or didn’t do wrong and who she’s with now and why he became a cop instead of pushing himself and being happy
- but he says this.
- we were and then we weren’t.
- because all human experience can be taken as that.
- we are and then we aren’t
- and it’s all very simple
- and despite all the pain he feels and all the ways it’s affected his life
- he knows it’s as simple as that
- THIS FUCKING SHOW RAHHHSHEKFOSK 🦅🦅🦅
- the way that nurse mills keeps side eyeing morse
- girl calm down
- the way morse runs 💀
- go morse go! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️
- thursday should not have left bakewell and i stand by that
- even though nothing happens someone should have stayed with him to keep him safe
- but noooo 🙄🙄🙄 thursday has to care about morse and make sure he’s okay
- morse just visiting debryn for fun at this point
- monica 🥺🥺
- JESUS THURSDAY
- slamming his head against the brick wall is so wild
- unnecessary some might say!
- perhaps even… police brutality!
- which you’ve been suspended for!!
- every time i start to like him 🙄🙄
- oh my GOD monica is so beautiful
- “treat the next one better.”
- GET HIM MONICA
- both of them avoiding the question “are you happy?”
- final straw
- the way thursday just hates having brights job
- it’s so funny
- thursday loves winnie so much i’m SICK
- i’ll prolly never get married but if i do i want it to be like them
- the way this show handles mental health issues is like
- actually not that bad
- like 8/10 times they do a really good job
- especially given the time period
- he’s a murderer and all but bakewell is funny as fuck
- “i get the uncontrollable urge to murder nosy parkers 😡. ta for the grapes 🥰🥰!”
- like ok??!
- funny as fuck
- that picture of joan is absolutely foul
- just throwing it out there
- “i had a reverse charges call from leamington.” “wasnt me.”
- i hate her right now
- i know i said i loved her like two posts ago but i fucking hate her
- like she’s intentionally hurting these people and doesn’t care
- like how does she just not care how much what she’s doing is affecting the people in her life?
- i know she’s traumatized
- but ONE phone call to ur parents wouldn’t kill you 🙄
- i have 0 understanding of how she’s blaming herself for the death at the bank
- they didn’t know who she was until he was already dead
- like girl get it together
- “i don’t care.” “i do.” “you shouldn’t.”
- GIRL SHUT UP ‼️‼️
- pissing me tf off
- anyways 😐
- bright is so 🥺🥺
- just a little guy tbh
- GIVE BRIGHT CHILDREN🗣️🗣️🗣️ (he’s like 80 years old do not give him kids)
- what is this trend of bringing grapes to people in the hospital? is that something i should be aware of?
- goddam morse’s ex is RICH
- the way that people don’t like dr. powell because they think he’s a ladies man but he literally just wants to be a doctor 😭
- let my man breathe!
- the way susan was sick TWO YEARS AGO and morse looks worried like it’s happening right now
- “have you spoken to susan?” “yes. i haven’t mentioned you.”
- girl shut your bitchass up
- sick and tired of your classist bullshit
- this guy talking to corpses is so 🤨🤨
- NO BAKEWELL‼️
- what the fuck.
- how on earth is dr. powell working from 7:30 in the morning until after 3 in the morning the next day
- how does he function
- stop 🥺 the way morse turns his back before strange opens the trunk and then just peeks over his shoulder to look
- he’s a fucking pussy 😐
- KIDDING
- i’m obsessed w him and i truly believe his inability to look at the deceased is his most endearing quality
- thursday cares about morse sm i’m SICK
- NAUR THEYRE PUTTING BRIGHT IN BED TEN
- morse talking to the parrot is funny as fuck tbh
- morse is obsessed w debryn
- how the fuck did debryn notice a microscopic wound on someone’s ass
- he’d have to be STUDYING that ass
- wild!
- anywho
- i love the way morse talks to debryn and debryn talks to morse
- just two geniuses bouncing off each other 🥰🥰
- trewlove OUT OF UNIFORM coming to visit bright is so sweet
- it’s like he has a daughter
- i’m obsessed ✋🙄
- okay i was wrong. powell is a terrible person!
- the nurses are dramatic asf tbh
- i cannot imagine real nurses behaving this way
- oh my god susan’s dad died
- this could be my breaking point!
- i also would love to point out the fact that morse insists on formalities in most if not all situations, meaning he refers to people as “Ms./Mrs./Mr. ____”
- but he calls susan’s mom “Caroline”
- just her first name and nothing else
- like he and susan were engaged to be married
- like he really loved her and she maybe really loved him
- like at some point her parents loved morse and took him in
- like they treated him like family
- like they were excited for him to marry their daughter and therefore let him call them by their first names
- like they were close
- like a family
- everything about what happened between him and susan HURTS and idk how to handle it
- also i FUCKING HATE CAROLINE
- “I’m so sorry.” “Are you?” “Yes, of course. Edgar was always very decent to me.” “Well, he always had a weakness for failures.”
- like YOUR DAUGHTER LEFT MORSE
- not the other way around
- i fucking hate classism
- there’s a whole other analysis i could do of this whole situation that would be about his queerness and how it could play into all this but i’m like
- i fucking hate caroline
- she sucks so bad
- like the way she tells him the CHIEF CONSTABLE RUPERT STANDISH said he would never amount to much
- which already is bullshit because of his involvement with landesman and wintergreen, meaning that he was involved with the group who intentionally sabotaged morse and are still attempting to now (he died in the neverland episode so it’s not him directly anymore but still)
- and then says “You didn’t even pass your sergeants exam!”
- which is bullshit because she doesn’t know what happened and he can’t defend himself because it’ll make it sound like he’s making excuses for what she’s interpreting as failures
- “You see, I was right about you, even then.” “When you speak to Susan please give her my condolences.” “And your love.” “No. No. Look, whatever you may think of me, I am truly sorry he’s dead.”
- the DISGUST on his face when she says “and your love”
- i fucking hate her
- and morse deserved better
- it’s obvious that what happened is still tearing him up even now
- and that’s why he’s so sensitive about people leaving him (jakes, joan)
- and why he will always assume people he’s in love with or carries any love for are going to leave
- i fucking hate this show ‼️‼️
- two female murderer episodes in a row i am running my hands together like a little mouse
- this girl is wild for killing that many people tbh
- morse hugging her instead of dragging her away ☹️
- he’s so gentle i HATE IT HERE
- thank fuck bright lived
- idk how i would have reacted if something happened tbh
- i cannot believe the only shot we get of susan is from the back 😐
- okay for you tarot kids!
- intersecting the tower card with the death card usually has a lot of negative meanings. it represents suffering, typically by means of illness or pain of some kind
- the death card is a typically pretty happy card despite the connotation, but when combined with the tower card it’s p shit
- the tower card usually represents suffering or destruction
- combing the two cards doesn’t bode well for morse and it’s our first intersection in the reading we’re getting at the end of these episodes!
- so far we have sacrifice, union, and now a traumatizing ending of something resulting in suffering
- things are not boding well for our boy!

listen. i think villain aus are extremely fun and i love giving them to my favourite characters (who aren’t villains already) but. god. the way the warrior cats fandom, especially the map community on youtube treats them is so fucking boring. it’s the same every time. random (usually female) character reacts differently to a certain event in canon by going on a manipulation/murderous rampage, usually with an ‘insane’ smile on their face with absolutely no regard for their canon characterisation.
like we could get such good villain aus if people were just aware of a characters’ basic traits and motivation.
how about instead of- lets use dovewing for this example- instead of a dovewing villain au where she decides she’s randomly a super vindictive cat who hates her sister and dies and torments her from the dark forest as a super master manipulator. because thats the basic cut and paste plot of every single villain au map.
lets try and make a villain dovewing au that fits her character! (with a bit of leeway of course, since dovewing is an angel)
dovewing is under a lot of pressure from the prophecy and expectations from the cats around her. what if instead of moving to shadowclan eventually like in canon, she places all her worth on her powers and tries her best to become the perfect prophecy cat in order to gain praise and acknowledgement from the cats around her. she is so desperate for validation that she is the one to push ivypool away and eventually they get into a fight about this fact. she’s so obsessed with her destiny from the stars she’s been neglecting basic daily life stuff like hunting or helping around camp.
maybe she accidentally pushes ivy off the edge of the gorge and covers it up to protect her image if you really need some fratricide and guilt in there.
maybe have all the specialness of her situation get to her head because its all anyone’s been telling her since she was a kit. and when the powers go away after the great battle she realises she never had a chance to develop her own sense of self because she put all her self-worth on her powers.
idk. it’s far from perfect (i whipped it up in five minutes) but it’s better than evil murderous dovewing with no motivation

MALMAISON MEDIA SALON SOIRÉE 12: THE DAUGHTER OF THE REGIMENT (1840)
Tumblr media
1. The Introduction
Hello, dear Neighbors! Welcome back to Malmaison Media Salon. Sorry for all the delays but mental health and exams are bitches to deal with so I need to prioritize and I might need to delay my other review… Okay, I’m getting sidetracked.
Anyway, today we are going to review an opera! That’s right, one of the Napoleonic operas (of which I found several) and a rare beast, because it’s a comedy.
Definitely new territory for me, because I’m used to operas being all about tragedy, doom and gloom (which is partially why I dislike most of them). But hey, it’s Napoleonic, it doesn’t seem to encourage propaganda and it’s a comedy so why not review that and (hopefully) have a good laugh?
This opera premiered in France so, fortunately, no Anglophone bullshit ™️ here! It’s in French, but can easily be found on YouTube with English subtitles so it’s not a pain in the ass in that department either!
Also, before we begin, this review is dedicated to @mamelukeraza , @pobodleru and @michel-feuilly (the latter two users kind of remind me of the main character so there’s that).
Okay, let’s fucking go!
2. The Story
The opera tells the story of a vivandière, Marie, who was found as a baby by the 21st regiment of the French Army and raised by the soldiers, which leads her to refer to everyone in the regiment as her father, and this concept is one of the things I like the most!
See, I’m big on tropes concerning found families and the idea that family isn’t always about biological relatives, so I find Marie’s story extremely sweet. Unfortunately, there’s a romance in the story (between Marie and a peasant called Tonio) and I usually don’t care about romantic stuff in media all that much.
However, the story was still fun to watch due to the wholesome interactions between Marie and The Dads ™️ (that’s what I’m calling the regiment because they raised her), a family conflict involved in the story that doesn’t paint anyone as evil and some genuinely funny moments.
Also this opera only has 2 acts so it’s pretty short, simple and gets straight to the point. Perfect for people who aren’t fans of slower pacing.
3. The Characters
I like Marie. I really do.
Raised by soldiers, she definitely is more of a tomboy and loves the life she has with her fathers, which makes sense because that’s the only life she has ever known and by all accounts she is loved and cared for.
Marie definitely can be rough with her manners and she talks like the soldiers who raised her but she does have a kind and gentle side, comforting the wounded as the vivandière and doing everything to help the regiment and make them proud. She is also ready to put her happiness aside for the sake of others, even if that makes her miserable.
Tonio, Marie’s love interest, is also surprisingly likeable. He is a regular peasant who fell in love with Marie and enlisted in the regiment to be with her. He is loyal, wants what’s best for her and is kind of a jokester during at least one of his interactions with The Dad Regiment.
Unfortunately, he doesn’t have that much narrative time but he is a pretty good character when he is on stage.
I didn’t like the character of the Marquise, who is the closest thing to an antagonist in the opera, even though she isn’t actually malicious. Spoiler warning for my reasons for disliking her.
When the Marquise recognizes Marie as her illegitimate daughter, she whisks her away from her fathers to try and teach her to become a proper lady, basically ripping her daughter away from the life she knows without even considering that said daughter is actually completely fine with her life as it is and doesn’t need some aristocrat swooping in!
Not only that, but this Marquise also tries to marry off Marie to a Duke who Marie doesn’t even know. Of course, we later find out that she is doing this in an effort to try to ensure a good future for Marie, but her “mom knows best” attitude, her lack of consideration for Marie’s opinion and her stubbornness leave a really bad taste in my mouth.
Luckily, the old bitch does change her tune in the end but I really don’t like her regardless, mostly because I have adoptees in my family and I know that being the biological parent doesn’t give ANYONE the right to just whisk their kid away from the people they actually think of as family.
Sulpice, the regiment’s sergeant, is pretty likeable. He does sympathize with the Marquise, but also sees that Marie is miserable and unsuited for noble life, so he tries to cheer up Marie as much as possible and ultimately allows her to marry Tonio because her happiness is what matters most for him.
Sulpice is also really proud of Marie and it shows. He is protective too, especially when Tonio first shows up, but not overly so and his protectiveness is justified because Tonio could be a spy and/or take advantage of Marie. So no overprotective dad trope either.
4. The Setting
The story is set in Tyrol, in the beginning of Napoleonic wars, but the costumes of some characters aren’t really accurate. For example, some productions add pants to Marie’s uniform whereas an actual vivandière would wear a skirt.
Uniforms of soldiers seem accurate, but some nobles still wear wigs so accuracy is hit or miss, but it’s a comedy that doesn’t take itself seriously all the time, so I don’t mind it that much.
The sets are really good though, especially in scenes that represent landscapes.
5. The Music
I said before that I don’t like opera, but the music here is actually beautiful and there is some talking involved, so the opera borders on the operetta territory, it seems.
I think I liked the regiment songs the best, but all music was excellent.
7. The Conclusion
It was a great experience and this opera might just be the only one I actually liked. I definitely recommend it for fans of comedy and shorter, simpler stories.
Also the fact that the French aren’t portrayed as evil and that there’s no villain is refreshing in my opinion, so it’s an additional reason to check this opera out.
With that out of the way, let’s finish our soirée and, if you’ll excuse me, I’ll tune out and do some studying.
Love,
- Citizen Green Pixel

Hero Killer Stain | Akaguro Chizome Relationship Headcanons
Yes I’m here to deliver.
The kind of person to only have very few friends. This guy ain’t the socialising type. I mean look at him he practically oozes lone wolf vibes. Not a people person for sure. He’s definitely socially awkward as fuck though thanks to his poker face that part of him isn’t obvious.
If you do manage to be friends with him though, oh boi where do I even begin?
He is an independent guy so expect like long ass periods of non-contact. He would occasionally check in on you to make sure that you are alive and doing well, sometimes with a text saying hes coming over. If you are lucky he might hang around for a while but apart from that he’s not gon do much (totally not because he’s socially awkward cough cough).
Really thoughtful as hecc. He’s not such an asshole to make any demands for you and your time. With how disillusioned he is with the current state of society, he’s going to cherish all the shit you have done for him, especially when you are one of the only ones who stayed with him despite the bloody path he has chosen.
Mention offhandedly about needing or wanting something? So long as he can afford it, it’s definitely going to appear on your table the next day without a trace of him left in your house. The kind to help around the house when he possibly can. Even if you try to deny his aid he’s not gonna budge at all cus he is one stubborn ass motherfucker. After some time you just give up and let him do what he wants. Though it is kinda funny to see the Hero Killer doing domestic stuff around your house.
However he can be a bit of an insensitive jerk at times. He judges a bit too hastily and makes wrongful assumptions. He also tends to believe that the fault lies within the person themselves whenever theres a problem, and will point it out if you asked for it.
This can result in arguments when you make mistakes or anything cus he will unintentionally make a comment that directly attacks you and your character. I can see that eventually you would reach a breaking point where you cry and/or scream at him about these hurtful comments. Yelling would of course devolve into an argument until you explain your feelings and situation to him such that he understands. Crying would just really hit in the realisation on how shitty his actions were and he would rectify that immediately by comforting you.
Hangouts typically consist of you guys sitting there in silence doing your own thing or watching a movie, or both of you engaging in philosophical discussion about today’s society. Yes because this is Stain we are talking about, expect the topic of False Heroes to come about. Once that happens, you would end up listening through his entire rant on False Heroes and their Unworthiness for the Hero title.
You definitely have engaged in debates with him on dealing with false heroes. He would be respectful of your views so long as they are well supported AND well-rounded arguments. Being one-sided esp towards the heroes would make him dismiss your views since it’s the same opinions adopted by the masses. Acknowledging and accepting that his views and ideals are valid would be a big deal for him, even if you disagree.
Sadly I’m not really sure if it would change much on his hero killing ways. To him, it’s the only solution he feels he could implement to best deal with false heroes, and it’s a necessary evil. Plus, he’s more of the take action guy. He can’t really just sit around, wait and think on what to do when there’s so much at stake. I find that it would be good for him to have a partner to hold him back and properly think through some stuff because of this, if he were to get into a romantic relationship. And speaking of that…
If you are in a romantic relationship with him, it’s just the above friendship qualities multiplied by 10 plus the couple things.
He WILL be a mother hen for his s/o. Regarding his friends, he tends to trust their ability to take care of themselves, only stepping in when needed to. Regarding his partner? He takes responsibility for their wellbeing. If their condition is less than perfect, he’s going to do something about it.
Accidentally cut yourself? He’s already grabbing the first aid kit. Sees you aren’t getting enough sleep? Prepared to be whooshed away and dumped on your bed. Stressed and anxious? He asks you to confide in him about your worries, and if you can’t, at least tell him how he can make you feel better.
God forbid someone lay a hand on you intending harm cus if Stain knows about it, he will straight up gut them. He will interrogate you if he sees an injury on you that’s unlikely to be an accident. He’s not going to budge until you tell him who did it to you, and even if you don’t, he WILL find out on his own. He might end up hurting someone innocent so it’s best if you tell him who did it to save him the trouble. And if they mysteriously disappear from your life, that’s only for the two of you to know :^)
He’s definitely not used to physical affection being the loner he is, so if you initiate and like give him a hug or a kiss he will get flustered and blue screen for a short while. He would also be tense when cuddling for the first few times, then relaxing a little bit afterwards. Uh don’t surprise tackle him out of nowhere unless you want to get slashed or chucked at a wall. As much as he loves to indulge in your affections, he still needs to keep his instincts honed for fighting. You never know when someone might decide to attack the both of you. (You tried to surprise hug him once. It ended up with you getting injured and him attending to your injuries while lecturing you a little about doing that AROUND A SERIAL KILLER WHO KILL HEROES for a LIVING)
But otherwise he doesn’t mind physical affection. He would grow to love it, and would gradually take initiative to touch you at any opportunity if you tell him you are open to it. This does become funny with his brilliant poker face, when you guys are doing your own thing and all of sudden he gets close to you to hug, smooch or cuddle. He gives absolutely no warning whatsoever. It never gets old. Your reactions to him doing this amuses him a lot.
Expect occasional heartfelt speeches on how much he loves you or how much you mean to him. Might not realise this himself but gOd he can be a sMOOTH motherfucker. He is good with words, and gENUINE about what he says about. He will pull off the how I saw the world as a dark ugly place until you came along speech shtick and there will be this Moment of you guys beholding each others presence. THATS how good he is. (I mean you heard him monologing while fighting Izuku, Tenya and Shouto like daamn)
He’s a very practical person and isn’t one to be sentimental. He can’t afford to be sentimental if it can jeopardise him and his loved ones in any way. He’s adamant on not keeping anything of his around in your house cus he doesn’t want you implicated or associated with his murders at all.
Somehow, if you both are really really deep into the relationship, I can see him letting both of you carrying rings from each other. Not worn around the ring finger of course cus that can attract unwanted attention, but rather it being attached to a chain necklace that both of you would have at all times.
It’s kind of a promise and dedication to you, in the sense that, if he could or if he had the chance to, he would have formally proposed to you. He hopes that he can if somehow he fulfils his personal mission, and if both of you can find somewhere peaceful and safe together.
Edit: Realised I forgot to add some stuff in lol, so dont mind that I add more points to this already long ass post. Im on mobile so apologies if formatting is weird.

Alright so about Kristoph Gavin’s Black Psyche-Locks
Kristoph Gavin is my favorite villain, one of my favorite villains in any game. He’s a fun character. He’s charismatic, and ruthless, and yet I think if you really dig down into him, he’s still, ultimately, a very human monster at the heart of it all. But why is that? What is it about Kristoph Gavin I find so interesting? What secret motivations lie at the heart of this man that would drive him to murder, drive him to attempt to erase a literal child? Well, let’s explore this man in a little more depth, shall we?
So let’s start at the beginning. The Black Psyche-Locks. Kristoh’s Psyche-Locks were the first of their kind to appear in the series. When pressed, Kristoph explains he killed a stranger because he was “an evil human being.” It isn’t until Phoenix’s final accusation that suddenly, the Psyche-Locks click into place. “...I have to know. Why did you kill Shadi Smith? No... Zak Gramarye!?” Above all else, the reason Kristoph would go so far as to kill, his motive, is what prompts the Psyche-Locks to appear. But why, you ask? Isn’t it obvious? He killed Zak Gramarye for a whole host of reasons. To cover his tracks. To get revenge for being snubbed. And yes, those are all correct. Yet they fail to answer the most important question of all: What exactly is Kristoph keeping from himself?
According to Pearl Fey, “A red Psyche-Lock protects a secret that a person is consciously trying to hide. If the person folds under questioning, the lock breaks and the truth comes out... But a black Psyche-Lock protects a secret from the deepest place in a person's heart... ...a secret that that person isn't even consciously aware of… According to my research... A black Psyche-Lock is like a heavy chain wrapped directly around one's heart. If they are ripped off by force, it could cause permanent damage to a person's soul.”
So Kristoph killed a man, and he justified it. He’s vain, and he’s selfish. But that is all stuff that Kristoph is aware of. Conscious flaws. He’s a selfish, cruel man who justifies hurting those he perceived as wronging him. But what secret does he hold so deeply that it could shatter the very foundation of who he is?
So what, ultimately, does break the Psyche-Lock? It’s hard to say, as we never see Kristoph’s particular Psyche-Locks again once we take control of Apollo Justice. But we do see a breaking of sort: A Witness Breakdown. The series is full of them, to varying degrees of, uh, aggressiveness. BUT! It’s rare to see someone break down as completely as Kristoph does in his final moments on the stand. It’s not throwing a toupe and passing out. It’s not whatever the fuck happened to that goose hat in DGS. No, it is a complete and total breakdown. Screaming, hair disheveled. And laughter. Uncontrollable laughter.
So! What prompts this?
In the technical sense, it’s the reveal that Phoenix Wright outsmarted him. The jurist system, a system that went against all of Kristoph’s beliefs, implemented by the man whom he had already defeated once. It’s this one little detail that puts the final nail in his coffin.
But there are other little details around this moment that caught my attention. His reaction to the jurists, calling them “Riff-raff” or “a mindless, emotional mob of irrational mouth-breathers.” And then, there’s one last line, not from Kristoph, but from Klavier.
“Except for you, Kristoph. You aren't changing. You've stopped. You're not needed anymore.”
You’re not needed anymore.
And there. I think we found it. I think we found the chink in Kristoph’s armor. Kristoph, while vain, and entitled, and cruel, and monstrous, desperately needs to be needed. Not only that, Kristoph needs to be in absolute control of those around him. Kristoph is better than the people around him. Kristoph is better than Klavier. Kristoph is certainly better than Phoenix Wright. He is the most important man in the world, and anything that can threaten that is a threat to his very being.
Kristoph is a man who thrives on control. You can absolutely see it in the way he talks to Apollo, Phoenix, and Klavier. He needs to be the smartest man in the room at all times, even with the people he loves. Hell, especially with the people he loves. He needs them to look up to him. He needs them to need him.
Sometimes, people talk about how Kristoph didn’t love Klavier, and I don’t know if that’s the whole truth. I think that Kristoph loved an IDEA of Klavier. An idea of who he was and how he was supposed to behave. He loved a facet of Klavier, and that love was entirely conditional on Klavier behaving exactly as Kristoph thought he should. Klavier is the one who betrayed Kristoph first, you see? Klavier is the one who refused to be ‘lesser than,’ to adhere to the perceptions in Kristoph’s mind of who he should be. And every deviation from Kristoph’s control made him want to control Klavier the more.
It’s important to note that, before Phoenix even entered the picture, Kristoph began to pull the strings. I don’t subscribe to the notion that Kristoph was always willing to pay his way to victory, or murder anyone who got in his way. But this fight against his little brother was something that he could not lose, no matter what. He had to win. He had to win and take back control. Klavier was spinning out of his control. Klavier was rejecting him. He needed Klavier to obey.
There seems to be an element of control with every one of Kristoph’s personal relationships. His mentorship with Apollo was very much the same, though to a lesser degree. He was kind on the surface level, but quick to find ways to put Apollo down, to undermine him, to demand Apollo do what he say. I can’t imagine he was any different with Klavier, honestly, just with more time and more chances to slowly wear away at Klavier’s sanity.
On the other side, Phoenix Wright was a ‘friend’ he ate dinner with once a week. He was the only member of the ethics board (which HAHA Kristoph on an ethics board) to stand up for him, trying to frame himself as Phoenix’s savior, inserting himself into the story so as to never lose control of the situation. Once again, it comes down to control.
I was talking with a friend once, about the similarities between Kristoph and good ol’ Manny von Karma. Both have this weird obsession with perfection, but I think they come from wildly different character flaws. Manfred is a man who believes he is perfect, and nothing anyone says or does can shake that. Any challenges to his perfection are a threat, of course, but only because he feels entitled to the world bending to his will. He is perfect. Meanwhile, Kristoph is deeply insecure. His veneer of perfection hides a deep terror of being anything less than. A threat to his perfection is a threat to his very sense of self, sense of worth, and that must be destroyed at all costs. Still entitled of course, just also with the threat of collapsing in on itself at any moment.
Anyway. Uh. Hope that was coherent. I really like Kristoph.

Can't STAND these bitches in the fandom whining about "Wah, Rhea didn't wanna let go of power, she endangered the students by never revealing the truth of anything to them" and then turn around and fuckin' GUSH about how ~brave~ and ~daring~ Edelgard is for ~standing up against Rhea~ by doing THE EXACT. SAME. SHIT.
Edelgard never told her allies about TWS and thus they were ill-prepared for them when the post-game war came about. You can tell that no one was prepared for the war because so fuckin' many endings Byleth has in CF has it say that their marriage with the person they get with was immediately followed by the war against TWS. The other characters were literally never told once about their existence and Edelgard expected everyone to throw themselves into this war she never told them would happen, after already finishing a war she'd already forced on them. Run it back guys! Edelgard's War That She Makes Everyone Go Through Without Their Prior Knowledge Or Consent Part 2: Electric Boogaloo!
Edelgard stripped every noble that stood against her of almost any power they had and only nobles that at that moment stood against her got that treatment. Counts Bergliez and Hevring were equally involved in the Insurrection of the Seven - that thing that revealed Vestra, Varley, and Aegir as "corrupt" in Edelgard and Hubert's eyes - but since they choose at that moment to stand by Edelgard they're suddenly not corrupt anymore - they "earned forgiveness". As long as they never go against Edelgard - i.e., threaten her hold on power - then they are cured of their supposed corruptness. How convenient for Edelgard, that that's how that works! Suddenly Bergliez and Hevring are totally good guys and all it took was them bending the knee to her, how lovely. Also, see Acheron.
Everyone expects Rhea to just fuckin' spill the beans of everything right away as if that exact thing didn't fuckin' lead to the near extinction of her race. As if humans knowing everything the Nabateans know didn't almost lead to the permanent ruination of all of Fodlan. And then they pull excuse after excuse after excuse out of their asses for why Edelgard was so much better for all the shitty things she did. They pin all the blame on Rhea for Edelgard's actions, because I guess Edelgard isn't a grown ass woman who's capable of making her own independent decisions. She can never be blamed for her actions, no, someone else is always at fault, but Rhea can and should be completely and solely responsible for the decisions she makes.
Nothing can influence her decisions. No outside force made her think her actions, morally questionable they can be, are the best course. Nah chief, it's her being just fuckin' evil that was the reason she did what she did. Rhea's bad for secrets, but not Edelgard! Even though her secrets involved hiding the existence of two incoming wars that she was planning on spearheading- that's fine! Rhea is bad for wanting to hand the reigns over to someone specifically, but Edelgard wanting a successor worthy of her bloody throne is something to be admired. Just look over the fact that this person almost certainly cannot be someone who came from the people, and that it's almost definitely someone deemed worthy by Edelgard, from the elite social circles, with connections to Edelgard and/or other powerful people, with the best tutors and the perfect environment, and an already surefire shot at success already. See, Rhea's means were more morally questionable, so that means Edelgard is squeaky clean!
Who cares that there is literally no fuckin' way the weak aren't gonna be fuckin' trampled under the boots of the stron- oopsy daisy, I meant "meritable". Who cares that the literal one person in BE that could even possibly be considered someone who defies this is someone who 1) admits herself that she had to "pull some noble strings" to have a chance at paying the fees - oh, yeah, because you know who thrives under a meritocracy? Bitches with no money, for sure!! - and 2) is the only BE to not be appointed general post ts. Who cares that the weak have gotten persecuted and exiled under Edelgard's reign if they believed in the wrong faith, and who cares if any faithful in Edelgard's Fodlan have to cope with the loss of a foundational support system of theirs - just be strong! Just be good! It's just that easy amiright guys
And like... look, I honestly wouldn't care about people raggin' Rhea so hard about what she's done if it existed in a vacuum. She's done some questionable shit! Shit that could very easily warrant disdain! But it's when it's coupled with the fact that I know these people will go on to praise Edelgard and love her despite her doing equally morally questionable actions that peeves me off so much. Edelgard deadass started a war that lasted five years! She starved her citizens to have more food for her men! Men of whom some of which are forced to be there! She uses meat shields in AM and VW just like Rhea does in CF! She lets her citizens be turned into Demonic Beasts for her to use as war assets! She hides shit that people oughta know just like Rhea does!
But people wanna ignore that, just like they ignore Rhea just having the Church fuckin' off away from Adrestia 120 years before the game even starts, and how Faerghus definitely has a unique view on religion that doesn't align that perfectly with the Seiros faith, and how the Eastern Church might as well don't real for all the power it has, and how it's Rhea and the Church that is dealing with all of the issues in the game and not, oh, I dunno, the nations the problems are set in (with the only possible reasonable exception being Faerghus, because of Edelgard's allies) - fuck all that I guess!
Rhea's power hungry and Edelgard "just NeEdS all that power guys!!" and Rhea's bad for holding secrets and Edelgard is FoRcEd to keep the literal cause of all of Fodlan's problems hidden from literally almost everyone and Rhea should be held solely accountable for every single one of her actions and Edelgard shouldn't because others MaDe hEr Do iT

if you'd be so inclined my dear, what are your thoughts on how Tomura's character has developed over the series' timeline? -☼
So, I think Horikoshi did an excellent job at character development- especially considering that he's a villain (not the focal point of the series) and he really didn't have to do that. He easily could have kept Tomura an impudent little man-child, but he didn't, and I truly appreciate that.
So, in season one, we get his debut as USJ, and it became quickly apparent that he was... disorganized. Intelligent and dangerous, clearly, but not quite there yet. He essentially threw money at a pack of sell-sword villains, had a basic plan for how he wanted things to go, and relied on his Nomu to do the majority of his work for him. He didn't even consider variables and other things he couldn't have foreseen- he took Master at his word and just went for it.
He makes a multitude of mistakes during this attack, and it's part of why he fails so hard. Underestimates the kids simply because they're young, not factoring in that these are to be the nations top heroes. Even young, each one is sporting a power that puts them at the top of the class and above the rest of the nation. He basically goes "Fuck it, just scatter them and have these no-name villains kill them. No way that could go wrong." not considering that these children have been learning from the best of the best and are clearly already intelligent of their own accord.
He doesn't take into account that these heroes actually care for these kids and that feeling responsible for them works in their favor as opposed to being a detriment. They fight harder and take more abuse to keep them protected (Aizawa getting absolutely demolished but still persisting to defend the children even as he bleeds to death with a broken body.)
The intel wasn't wrong, per se, but he took it at face value, not even bothering to consider that All Might would push far past his limit to keep these kids safe. For someone as obsessed with felling All Might, he certainly didn't really know a thing about him. His genuine goodness and character would not allow him to fail when their lives were on the line. And then there's the matter of Midoriya, and while Tomura had no way of knowing that he's inherited All Might's power, he should have been able to account for wild cards like that from valiant children dedicated to heroism.
More under the cut because I’m just rambling.
I think this defeat humbles him. For most of his life, things have gone his way because of who is backing him and because he is extremely dangerous with a powerful quirk- this teaches him that raw strength and basic strategy won't be enough.
He watches Stain take the country by storm, and he can't understand it. Doesn't get what the big deal is- he believes he and Stain are mostly cut from the same cloth because of their penchant for violence and murdering heroes, totally blind to the convictions behind Stain's actions. He's incapable of thinking outside of his own view points, and it cripples him. These are his first few steps outside of his own comfort zone and where he begins to grow.
He's forced to consider not what he wants, but why. He resists this every step of the way, but ultimately realizes that paying off little bastard villains to work in his name isn't enough. He needs players under his command that will fight for more than money- and sell swords are loyal to nothing but that. He needs to find a conviction (even as he ends up stealing the mask of one and using it as a facade at first) that others can relate to and be passionate about.
So he does.
He steals Stain's ideology for his own and uses it to recruit some of his top members- even if he is a right little bastard about it at first. While he throws a tizzy fit because they aren't "perfect" (his standards are very high despite the fact that he's arguably not a very effective leader) but eventually ends up utilizing them regardless.
It's around here that he starts sharpening his instincts and learns what it is to be a true leader. He learns he cannot casually throw around his pawns because ultimately, he cannot win this war by himself. 'The enemy of my enemy is my friend' and while he isn't as enchanted with Stain's entire gimmick as his comrades are, he still wields it effectively.
He's still learning, however, as we learn when he takes Bakugo. Had he gone to the effort to get to know a single thing about him, he would have learned very quickly that trying to recruit him would come up completely pointless. He just saw untamed anger and unrestrained violence bordering on unhinged and thought "Ah yes, he's powerful and very much like me- he'll do nicely" and put together a whole plan to kidnap him. I think the vanguard's success in capturing him shows Tomura just how useful it is to have clever little birds under your command, and that sticks with him.
Losing his Master, like AFO says, forces him to become his own man. He loses the cushy abode he'd had for most of his life, loses many of the benefits afforded to him by being AFO's protege. He and his ragtag team of villains live in squalor, almost entirely destitute, and are forced to survive- but they stay loyal, and that means something to him. I think it’s around here where he actually begins to care about them.
We see how he reacts to Magne’s death. I don’t think for one second he aided in destroying Overhaul simply because he was a threat. If that was the case, he would have stopped once he was arrested. He risks everything to get vengeance. Cuts his limbs off and renders him completely helpless as payment for what he did to Compress and to avenge Magne’s wrongful death.
Over the course of everything, he’s become more patient, more cunning, more dangerous. He’s learning quickly from his mistakes, how to command his ranks in a respectful, effective way, and how to keep them safe. He learns their strengths and weaknesses, and while he’s still a bit thorny, it’s very apparent he does care for them. He’s on his own now, and knows he needs greater power, greater numbers to achieve his goals. He is ruthlessly ambitious, willing to endure ungodly amounts of pain to meet his ends.
So now we have this season (which I haven’t actually watched, as I’m just waiting for disappointment because I fucking know Bones won’t do him justice) and he’s seeking out both Gigantomachia, a former ally, and the PLF. Both things that could be of great value to him. His leadership skills and ability to command will be put to the test, but so will his endurance, his willpower, and everything else. This is the beginning of him as a truly devastating threat.
He’s growing into the villain I think he deserves to be. He’s facing down the very bones that comprise him and learning why he is the way he is. What his convictions really are and how far he’s willing to go to achieve his goals. HIs past, his life as he knows it, what needs to be done to put a pretty little ribbon on everything. He is, in a way, shedding like a snake- ridding himself of weaknesses, growing into his strengths, and evolving into a more capable predator.
If you ask me, realistically, I think Shigaraki would actually win. When it’s all said and done, I think his arc is far more compelling than any of the heroes or their children. I think he has more drive, more wit, more raw power and more reasons to keep fighting. A lot of the kids, while cute and the main characters, are quite hollow. But over the course of all these seasons, we get to watch Tomura’s metamorphosis and his evolution into a purer, undiluted evil. He transforms into something truly sinister- a literal manifestation of all of the flaws and pitfalls of society and hero culture as it exists. He is undeniable proof of the toxicity and that the way things are cannot be allowed to stand, and the fact that so many people resonate with him and follow him loyally should be the ultimate clue-in.
I think if the heroes weren’t blinded, they would look at Shigaraki and his league and consider it. Wonder if, just for a moment, there was something there that they should pay attention to. A cry that they should hear rather than be willing deaf to. But they don’t.
Gran Torino is a prime example of this. So are all the other so called ‘heroes’. Calling him evil. Underestimating him. Considering him someone who just woke up one day and decided ‘I don’t like this so I’m going to kill a lot of people’. You’d think that they’d recognize that a drive like his does not come from nothing. If they sat down, shut the fuck up and listened for ten seconds, maybe they wouldn’t be dying by the dozens.
I’m not saying that they should allow him to continue to trample the world and kill at will. But what I am saying is that part of how they’re fighting him and how they’re viewing this in terms of black and white and good versus evil is exactly the fucking problem, and it’s that kind of bullshit that birthed the villain we know as Tomura Shigaraki to begin with.

10 Anti LO Asks
1. Why is no one talking about one of the most stupid things we've seen in this webtoon thus far? I'm talking about the fact that H&P deadass pull a "I nominate Hades as an attorney to defend me in this case uwu" and the mf accepts (clearly the had it planned) although he is part of the jury.
Now, I don't have fast pass but I really hope this whole thing is forbidded by Zeus in the next episodes. It makes no fucking sense! Hades is not a lawyer, and as a god is not associated with law/justice (him being a king doesn't excuse this, he is there to "judge" not to defend the accused).
This really proves that absolutely nothing works against Persephone ever. She is able to get away with murder and have zero consequences for her actions, all while the smurf plays daddy with her, spoils her and defends her in court WHICH SHOULD NOT BE EVEN POSSIBLE LMAO.
From OP: It’s allowed because ‘loophole’.
2. I would like to add to what that person said about the characters looking too stiff. Literally that panel towards the end of ep. 179 where P said "I nominate Hades" is the best example of this. Wtf is wrong with her hand? It looks like a wooden doll with her arm extended like that. The only explanation I have for this (aside from the fact that the art style sucks big time) is that she's trying to imitate the art style on the ancient Greek amphoras (amphorae?), but even the scenes depicted on them had signs of natural movement, with the bodies looking much less stiff of course.
3. Anyone else wanna mention the backgrounds are also just not there at this point? Like she was already bad with this in the beginning but at least there was some sketch up lines to give the impression they were in a real space, but now it’s literally just blank voids of color and that’s it, and often not good use of color either (why is the above land pink while the underworld is blue? It makes it hard too tell what’s going on). There aren’t even establishing shots to at least give the readers an idea where they are and then becoming abstract about it, it’s all abstract and flat, which doesn’t help when the characters also are so lacking in character design and aren’t really doing anything pose or action wise. The world around them don’t even seem like actual places, it just seems like a set, and a very cheap one at that. It just ends up looking so boring in all fronts.
4. I don't know why it's only happening now but Persephone's eyebrows have started to piss me off lately. Why are they pure black? And when did they become so thick? It doesn't fit in with the rest of her fair and hairless appearance, it just looks like her brow artist did a piss poor job on them.
5. it honestly makes me sad looking at the first few lo episodes. were they perfect? god no, but at least the art was unique and had some actual thought put in it, but by around episode 25 or so you begin to notice the style is becoming less and less, until you have what it is now which is completely different, and not for the better. i know styles change and all, but this is a case where it got so much worse, losing its unique factor to look so generic and lacking instead. it make me sad.
6. Ive noticed LO fans dont seem to enjoy any other greek myth works, only LO. for example there's a huge overlap in PJO fans liking Hades Games and BoZ, and Hadestown fans towards TSOA, and so on and so on, meanwhile LO overwhelmingly don't even read other HxP stuff like Punderworld and openly hate stuff like PJO. They tend to only consume LO while claiming to be "big myth fans". It reminds me of Potterheads who claim to be big book nerds when they've really only read the series and nothing else.
7. its truly a testament to how bad the writing is from RS in that she honestly thought it was a dramatic twist apollo and artemis of all people were children to zeus, despite looking exactly like him and not like their mother. also, tbh, the fact hera humiliated leto and treats the twins like garbage, it is any wonder theyre being depicted so negatively in LO? theyre only used to prop up hades and p's "friendships" to eros and daphne. artemis is even the "bad" maiden. it's all so stupid.
8. the thing to me is no retelling of myths will be perfect, how could they be? but LO takes the cake at claiming its so researched and is the actual truth and is 99%+ correct (both from rachel's words as well as by her fans) with both refusing to even admit to any mistakes and refusing any critique, especially from greeks themselves, that's where the issue is to me. you cannot claim to be so well researched only to be upset when people notice the many obvious inaccuracies. that's not how it works.
9. there's a part of me that wonders why LO has never featured any MLM romances like poseidon, zeus, or apollo's many male lovers, but then i remembered she doesn't care about poseidon and both zeus & apollo are both evil to her, her made up WLW romances are terrible, and all relationships that cant be used to prop up hades and persephone are made cruel and abusive, so maybe that's a blessing in disguise that she's so bad at even remembering LGBTQ+ relationships, much less depicting them.
-----FP Spoiler/Mention-----
10. The whole trial thing just puts into perspective how much plot points go off the rails. I was actually looking forward to finally hearing from Demeter that Persephone IS a fertility goddess and them having a argument before the trial, but then it just left on a Clift hanger. And then oh wow Hades is being her lawyer, which??, pretty sure that’s not how that works but okay whatever he’s going against his brothers. But he doesn’t even make an opening statement because the other side does instead. And then Hermes shows up and his backstory starts and everything gets so muddled. I’m not an expert on court cases but seeing the witness be called up right after and the other side just make a bunch of shi up instead of stating a pathos but accurate opening statement hurts my brain. Not to mention the jury and people just speaking out at random? Like can Rachel just write something serious for once? Or at least somewhat accurate? Legally blonde had a better comedy court case scene than whatever this is.

I have, uh, thoughts...
M’kay, I know this has likely been harped on until nothing is left but little bits and pieces, but after reading this latest chapter, I realized what’s been bothering me about this current arc. It’s the imbalance of violence and aggression that is heaped onto Shigaraki.
I don’t know if this is Horikoshi’s intention, and I’m likely looking wayyy too into this, but I’d argue you don’t have your characters say things for no reason. So, if you’ve got a minute, let’s see if I can sort through these nagging emotions of mine.
warnings: manga spoilers 220 - 285, basically, no touch if you don’t want to see the current arc
Ok. Let’s roll the clock back and look at something Shigaraki told us at the USJ.
Tumblr media
Now, while he has changed a lot from these early arcs, that core motivation he carries here is the same. He wants society to see just how fragile and how ridiculous their reliance on a hero state of justice really is. And, I would say that he’s absolutely right in this assessment.
Tumblr media
The idea of heroes and villains needs a foundation of violence. They need that evil, almost as much as they need the concept of justice. It’s the age old right and wrong theory. It doesn’t leave space for grey, for nuance, for differences in ideology or upbringing.
However, heroes like to ignore what they can’t fix. Like anyone, they’re human and humans don’t often take pleasure in looking at the uncomfortable. I’d argue that’s why Gran Tourino doesn’t check back in on Kotaro. Yes, he made a vow, but those memories of that crying child being placed with a trusted friend, and not his mother, not Nana, have stuck with him. Nana wouldn’t be any wiser, or any less dead, if he checked in on her son. In chapter 281, we finally, FINALLY see Gran reflecting on that choice both he and Nana made
Tumblr media
If he had checked in, Kotaro might have known a different memory of his mother, or he might have at least been able to see the threads of aggression and abuse that were riddling Tenko’s life. He might have seen AFO, manipulating and watching. Might, might, might. No matter how you shake it, everything changes when there’s some kind of monitoring, of looking out for your fellow man.
With that in mind, BNHA’s world state, which is based on hero work, would need a strong set of checks and balances to function properly, to catch those falling into the cracks & I’d argue we don’t see much push for that from the everyday populace.
Which is wild. Because society itself is practically Quirkless. Sure, 80% have a quirk, but in Japan you cannot use your quirk in public. If you do, you run the risk of arrest or classification as a villain.
That is why we see moments like these
Tumblr media
Izuku is likely one of the only people in this massive crowd who really has no quirk. There is a horde of people standing there and no one is lifting a finger. It’s kinda a “bread and circuses,” mentality. They look fucking entertained and no one is freaking out except for Izuku, who knows what it feels like inside that goop thing. Instead, they’re all waiting, watching for the next hero, or for All Might to show up. But wait, aren’t there heroes there? It’s a city and this is a massive attack, it’s brought foot traffic to a standstill, surely a hero will get there and save this boy who is literally dying.
Oh. They’re there. But they’re waiting too
Tumblr media
They are all “managing,” the situation and hoping Bakugo will survive long enough for someone with the right quirk to come along. Not polling the masses of people to see if any of them could possibly assist in the meantime, no, all these civilians get to watch this miscarriage of “justice.” Don’t worry. If the kids strong enough, he’ll make it.
So far, Shigaraki’s underlying motivation calling for a more rigorous, critical, take on heroes doesn’t feel too far fetched. Looking at chapter 1 alone, the current way things are isn’t right and it’s not fair.
Now, Shigaraki isn’t going about asking for it the “right,” way, but I bet he’d see a similar response even if he wasn’t hurting and maiming people as he goes.
The latter would let him be swept aside just as easily as the former. We see this happen with Stain. The news isn’t talking about the Nomu, or the countless people who were terrorized and hurt. No, they’re talking about the Hero Killer, because just like in our real society, that’s what get the clicks, the likes and the attention. Again, people don’t like to look at things that make them uncomfortable.
Tumblr media
Yet, even with this horrifying fact, that Stain could go down in history books as a villain, as someone who gleefully killed others, people, both good and bad, sat up and took notice. Many even identified with his ideals: That heroes are corrupt and they are only in the field for the fame and money. Only All Might was the perfect specimen to Stain. Because this is an idea that people can get behind, to me, that means that others know things are stacked against the underbelly, the downtrodden. But they can’t be bothered to call for change.
On the flip side, Shigaraki, who has a better grasp on the true ills and neglect of hero society is often told he has no “real,” ideology, no real conviction, and this is a theme that’s repeated over and over and over.
Like most things in BNHA, it begins with All Might
Tumblr media
Then it’s carried to Stain, Dr. Ujiko, an ally and long time supporter of AFO, to Re-Destro, and, most recently, to Endeavor. They all can’t see what Shigaraki is wanting, what he’s calling for.
It’s easier to name him a monster, a freak, scum, then to listen or to absorb any of what he’s saying.
Tumblr media
But, as he says, he’s got convictions. He’s got his father’s, he’s got AFO’s ideas on the ethics and morals of hero society, AFO’s drive to crush OFA, once and for all, and his own deep seeded resentment and neglect toward a broken hero society. Honestly, he’s got more motivation than almost any other character.
And how is he treated? How does Horikoshi show us the “heroes” response? He gives up a heaping of violence. From chapter 270 to 285, Tomura Shigaraki is hit, punched, burned and beat around a whopping 36 times. And, for most of this fight, he is effectively quirkless.
How many hits does he get in? A grand total of 6.
And his first reaction is never to maim, in these moments, instead it’s to talk, to rattle, and to question
Tumblr media
He only goes for Endeavor after he’s been burned, likely, without his regeneration abilities, to the point of death. These heroes aren’t aiming to subdue, they’re going in for the kill. And yes, he has just decayed an entire hospital and the surrounding area, the heroes are warranted in their anger and their frustration. After all, they’re the ones who dropped the ball here. This was a “planned” raid and they should have been the only ones in any real danger. They’re heroes, so I’d argue that it’s their job, their life’s mission to save, no matter the cost.
Besides, if they can spare AFO, not once, but twice, they should be trying to spare Shigaraki just as hard.
This has been a long and drawn out arc, with many, many ups and downs, but the one thing I don’t wanna see is the heroes getting a pass. This society has pitfalls and it’s got big ones. People are treated as lesser if they don’t have quirks, or if they have the wrong ones, the ones that don’t make them look normal. People are pressed to the side when they don’t conform and a hero, the current number one, has gotten away with mentally, and physically, scarring his family for over 20 years.
Right now, there are no checks. There is no: who watches the watcher in this world and I’d argue society has suffered for it.
Yet how are we shown how to treat those who don’t agree with us? With anger, untapped rage and physical violence, of course. And this is true of BOTH sides.
Tumblr media
At the end of the day, as he said back at the USJ: violence only breeds more violence and while I don’t like predicting future chapters or arcs, I’m hoping that thread won’t be dropped. It’s one of the things that drew me into BNHA and I hope we get to see more, not less, of that grey morality.

my thoughts on TUA season 2
(spoilers, obviously)
- opened with Klaus and Ben, my kings. Klaus’s hair looks so weird straightened while short
- AWESOME opening soundtrack
- seeing all their powers so controlled makes me wonder how they leveled up to that skill in the alternate timeline. like the only time we saw Klaus use the powers of other ghosts in the correct timeline was when two of them caught him falling out of the sky. however Diego did end up controlling bullets and Allison used her voice to technically kill one of the Swedes
- the homeless man screaming Allison’s name alongside Luther... funny shit
- big teddy bear Hazel
- Elliot was fucking awesome i think he was a great addition as a side character. rip tho :(
- honestly i don’t understand why Diego would WANT to save JFK. like it’s not that big of a deal. does he not understand what messing with the timeline can do??
- Lila... impeccable
- Sissy and Vanya... impeccable <3
- yeah and fuck u Carl
- ugh, Klaus’s beard. disgusting <3
- Ben and Klaus definitely act like they should be, given that they’ve been stuck with each other for over a decade. i’ve seen some people calling Klaus an asshole for not telling his siblings about Ben, which is completely understandable (cause he was an asshole), but I’m guessing it was because he was afraid? that sharing Ben with his siblings would mean that he would lose him to them, or his siblings would find him selfish, or they would ask something of him that he couldn’t give. if that makes sense
- that ghost bitch comment was funny tho
- to the guy who called Klaus pretty boy at the bar: sir you don’t know what you’re getting into
- Raymond!! he’s such a sweetheart, i really liked him in the show. i’m really happy that Allison has found a bit of normalcy (as normal as the 1960s Civil Rights movement could be). it shows how passionate she is about what she believes in: even though she knows the movement is far from over, even back in 2019, she’s not gonna abandon it
- Allison staring at the moon every night: either thinking about Luther or how the moon blows them all up. maybe both
- of course Luther would be working for Jack Ruby
- awesome cinematography during the mental asylum escape
- yeah it makes sense that the Handler would still be alive. she was a cool villain. although it would’ve been awesome to see how evil a fish could be
- Diego’s plan was pretty stupid. that’s my boy
- honestly they revealed how Klaus started a cult really well by having one of his followers find him at jail. Klaus, ever the musical aficionado, of course writes his scripture based off of pop songs
- Raymond and Klaus meeting!! that was cool to see how their paths connected
- Lila painting Elliot’s toenails green. ugh i love that crazy bitch
- i LOVE how they incorporated the umbrella man!! tbh i’ve always believed he was the one behind the assassination. Lee Harvey Oswald was framed
- honestly a bit understandable that Luther was planning on killing Vanya? cause he had no idea who she is now, but them reuniting was actually really sweet. he’s grown up so much
- the Swedes and their cats.
- the Umbrella company building with the nuclear family mannequins... creepy, awesome shit
- baby pogo baby pogo baby pogo baby pogo
- shanked diego shanked diego shanked diego shanked diego
- did anyone else get vibes from Klaus’s episode opening that he was an escort to the old woman? like how he was being shown off at her arm or something and getting out of jail from a call from the governor. idk maybe the lady was just very taken with him, as anyone would be
- Elliot, our helpful king
- Allison and Klaus’s reunion was so sweet!! i’m so glad they got to interact so much more in this season
- Ben getting Raymond out through a haunting... hilarious
- sweet intimate moment between Lila and Diego
- Ray meeting Luther was hilarious, but i do feel for the poor guy. i mean i’m not in love with my adoptive sister but still
- the sit-in was really well done and beautiful while terrible. the ‘riot’ that ensued was very appropriate for today’s setting
- D-Dave
- honestly i was scared that Klaus was gonna be overly attracted to him or whatever, which would be weird cause he’s years younger than Klaus, but honestly, at the core he just wanted to save Dave’s life. even if it means never meeting him in a different timeline. he truly loved Dave. and that ptsd flashback was done so well
- i knew Lila wasn’t trustworthy but i didn’t REALLY expect that!
- Vanya and Luther talking with each other, Luther admitting the apocalypse wasn’t all her fault. beautiful
- the Majestic 12 reminds me of the conspiracy theory that only a few families control basically everything in the world. the Majestic 12 may be based off of that, idk
- idk about everyone else but Klaus’s scorpion and the frog story made total sense to me! frogs ARE bitches
- the diner scene.... ugh. it really shows that the two of them did fall in love and they did stupid in love things, like talking about their family, about why Dave wanted to join, favorite colors, favorite foods, etc. however that’s seen later on when Dave visits the compound
- yes it’s very disheartening when Klaus is attacked, but honestly i think it had to happen, just like the riot had to happen. the 60s weren’t a fun time for lgbt people and poc. it was only going to be a matter of time before the show HAD to acknowledge the consequences of Klaus’s ‘flamboyancy’ in 1963 Texas. it doesn’t make it right or easy to see, but it’s realistic.
- it also makes sense that Klaus fell off the wagon after experiencing something like that. yes we all would’ve liked him to stay sober, but sobriety and recovery aren’t linear.
- Allison is so happy with Ray can we please drop this pseudo-incest plotline let’s MOVE ON
- Texas Grace ! who is not actually Grace rip (i think? i was a bit confused lol)
- the scene with Harlan running off was really upsetting but we got to see those weird light particles that we saw in the first season
- Pogo Pogo Pogo Pogo
- Klaus being a dick to Ben again, as brothers do. i do feel bad for Ben though it must be sooo frustrating. that scene with him and Allison was really sweet and funny tho
- i just have to say that Luther and Diego are so fucking funny this season it’s awesome. like there are a LOT of good lines overall by everyone but they’re hilarious. “At least he didn’t shank my ass” “no bro, he shanked your heart”“Dads part of a sinister CABAL that’s plotting on killing the president.” “a caBAL?”“You two still a thing? *leans in* do we need to talk?” “No, she’s married.” “Woah dude... that’s rough.” and countless others
- the sibling reunion!!
- Klaus really does get left out of everything tbh
- Ben :(
- sisters and Klaus!! that was so awesome to see. and Klaus’s hairpins, Vanya saying she’s gonna tell Sissy she loves her, their dance sequence, Klaus calling Allison out on that incest. beautiful
- the fucking Swedish cover of Hello was PERFECT i mean i was sad for the Swedes but it was hilarious. there were a couple beautiful shots of the boat on fire though
- god it must’ve been so traumatizing for Allison to be thrust into such a hostile place with no voice and no way to contact her family
-  idk about you guys but long live Team Zero
- calling Ben that he was becoming their father was a bit uncalled for
- the fact that Klaus didn’t help Dave’s chances, and in fact escalated Dave’s own timeline.. his trembling hands... robert sheehan is an amazing actor
- the Black president bit lmaoo loved it
- the way Reginald spoke to Diego.. i’m gonna throw hands with an old man
- Klaus LITERALLY looked like he was having a seizure and they all just... played it off??
- poor, poor Carl. nah fuck him lol
- that bloody opening scene was awesome! and thank god Five got to say fuck. the fact that it was about a candy bar makes too much sense
- Robert Sheehan acting as Ben: amazing showstopping spectacular he’s so talented
- the whole multiple Fives and Luther bit was honestly really funny, and i immensely respect smaller Five over bigger Five.
- yes Klaus, you survived a family of seven. you got this
- not sad about Carl dying one bit!
- Ben... that was such a beautiful scene. not just the content of the scene, but the cinematography. Ben fading away... Vanya hugging him... ugh. the main takeaway i had from that scene is that at the core of it all, Ben and Klaus love each other immensely. they have a weird, dysfunctional, fucked up relationship, where Klaus is an asshole and Ben definitely shouldn’t of possessed him without his consent, but they’re still brothers, and Ben forgives him.
- oof Ben’s funeral was hard. also was it just me or did Klaus’s kid actor sound weird? like it sounded like Robert was dubbing his lines
- all the siblings back together again!!!! Klaus going with Vanya to save Harlan!! Vanya telling him Ben forgives him and that it wasn’t Klaus’s fault Ben got stuck with him!! everyone in the car!!! be still my beating heart
- yeah didn’t see Lila having powers coming tbh. i really feel bad for her she’s had such a rough and traumatic life, especially with the Handler as her only parental figure
- the Swede brother and Five putting down their weapons: “enough.” the Swede wanted revenge for his brothers - an eye for an eye, but there was a mutual understanding between the two of them: they would do anything for their family. if the Swede hurts one of the Hargreeves, Five would never stop coming after him. i thought it was very beautiful
- mmm Reggie’s foreshadowing coming into play. proud of u Five
- the ending was so beautiful. everyone got closure in some type of way. except now Klaus is alone with nothing but his dog tags :(
- EMO BEN HAHAHA WTFFF?? is Lila in the sparrow academy? why was Ben’s portrait over the mantle piece? did Five disappear?? is the sparrow academy just older versions of the siblings who stuck around?? so many questions
FINAL THOUGHTS
- Ellen Page’s acting consistently blows me away. she is amazing
- beautiful cinematography, funny writing, pretty good acting. i didn’t like the soundtrack as much as i did the first season’s, but some of it wasn’t bad.
- i’m glad ben got peace, but i’m also glad justin min isn’t gone for good. his social media presence is too vital for us
- i swear to god if they keep treating klaus as a joke and don’t let him get any actual development like everyone else had (he barely got closure with Dave, he reconciled with Ben through a second party) next season, i’m gonna riot. PLEASE i want to learn more about his powers now that Ben is gone. what happened to seeing tons of ghosts when he’s sober??
- Luther and Diego were probably my favorite duo of the season, I’m so happy that they’ve reconciled and are bonding more.
- just seeing Vanya grow and be happy was amazing
all in all, really wonderful season. i probably liked it better than the first one. now it’s time to consume fanfiction and maybe finish my own (check out “god doesn’t want him and neither does the devil” on ao3!)

Reading this lostbelt, from Pepe's viewpoint and issues, and how he described the Crypters. It makes me uncomfortable that FGO is trying to validate privilege and trying to cast the victims of the privileged ones (PHH) as "bad" because they tell them to go fuck themselves and flipped the roles. Or are "good" because accept being destroyed (fucking erased) to validate the "better" (privileged) history. It felt like that from the beginning but Pepe's thoughts nailed this sickening feeling.
I was going to do my character meme answers, but so much THIS. I don't think Nasu thought over this pretty well (or he doesn't care because status quo-sticker), or he took so long his work isn't going to age well in the current context people are more aware than ever about this "competition" between humanity which is absolutely abhorrent and unjust. Even when presenting a side as "hopeless" for their growth, that sounds like you're making excuses to trample it for your benefit, like a typical privileged person would ignore those who rot on the sidewalk.
This is the funny thing. The entire situation as you point is like some of those pariahs said no more and decided to take over with the corpses of their oppressors. Panhistory to validate themselves created the Prunning Phenomena and can't take heat from the consequences of their very system generated? The rich side of this is that all those billions who disappeared actually to validate their existence in the first place set this system that originally walked on the corpses of many untold erased timelines. Because resources were limited (sounds familiar?) only a scant number of timelines could be kept. And this very cruel system was wished unconsciously by humanity itself. Nasu even compared what Humanity is doing to itself to what Goetia did in his booklet of Lostroom as if to frame what is the cause. Crypters, Lostbelts, the "God"? Thematically, they are victims and pariahs who got left behind. They aren't the "aggressors" that shot first. There’s a reason why the theme is revenge and payback of those who were down and stood again. Nasu’s not talking about Panhistory or Novum Chaldea.
Of course, is perfectly good and dandy to have Novum Chaldea look for the survival of them and their Panhistory, but it's not sitting well with me to take them as heroes at all, unlike Part 1. In part 1, the enemy had a problem with suffering, but the suffering caused by death and terminus, which was more a natural consequence of being human that could be delayed but is something nobody denies exists and must be accepted. It was a palatable approach of a Solomon who experienced a mortal life and the system Solomon left behind which took an exclusive "god" viewpoint unable to sympathize until he tasted mortality.
Part 2 meanwhile the core of the problem is that injustice and gap between loser and winners, and it seems to push for us to accept it can't be helped, humans are like this when is a dangerous complacent "Let the better ones eat you, pariah" sour aftertaste. It's also very dangerous because while there's no "pruning phenomena" in real life, there is across history the whole silencing the loser and oppressed by the winners, trying to wipe them out for their own glory and benefit. There's no point to wish fight fact or reform. Novum Chaldea being a passive tool to defend the way Panhistory has conducted itself with rare exceptional "no this waifu/this loli/cute animal" moments don't cut it for me to see them as good. It makes me feel dirty. They never made an effort to do anything but react too unless a said article to protect is at stake. It's increasingly hard to associate or sympathize with them over someone like Kirschtaria Wodime, whatever you think of his plan, he is the only one who made an effort to try to change the odds while embracing hope humanity inherent goodness will carry them out for a better future, better order, better results. While Chaldea's weak arguments against him could be summed up in Holmes' cynical view of how humanity won't change and will always be like that and suffer (which is again a reminder of "don't try to do anything, go with the flow" to suppress revolution and reformers). The arguments were so feeble that the one that stopped him isn't Chaldea, but Beryl's betrayal.
I understand fully the extraordinary context and circumstances of what happened, and what was lost, but those people who disappeared, they also wove a system that did the same to others. It's just an unfortunate plot to me. Nobody denies Kirschtaria was willing to accept the loss of Panhistory (even though if he could, he would have saved those people too) out his inability to save them with his limits, but N. Chaldea is perfectly willing to accept the loss of other lives too (although they also feel bad), are they less worthy? And while Kirschtaria’s passively accepted the loss of Panhistory (because none of the Crypters directly had to do with its blanching), Chaldea is actively now doing the Pruning System work in pulling the plug on others. Not just the Lostbelts but to restore Panhistory is accepting the way it works and how many it destroys. Instead of taking a bet to try something new, in the long run, maybe create something better. Both sides demand terrible sacrifices, but only one is coming with a solution to try and fix what is broken. The other side is just putting a band-aid and pretend is fine.  I don't know if Nasu is going to end it in a satisfying way. Because he's not one to overhaul this system and he maintained since FSN: "the seat of happiness are limited" as if was a natural and desirable message.
On the other hand, he did say that Kirschtaria's ideals are the most perfect even among "all legends of TM" and that his goal was objectively beneficial for humanity. Even one of the game options lets Guda comment that his idea is desirable, but... (doesn't want to forsake Panhistory... although Panhistory ironically has no problem to destroy and wreck other timelines to keep their flawed Consensus -> what isn't discussed, huh).
I think Nasu wanted to make this about survival instead of good vs evil, which was fine up until Kirschtaria came up with an idea of revision/reform the Human Order instead of proposing something based on survival of a lifestyle because he wanted to minimise the suffering. Which Chaldea poorly answered. At heart, by trying to smooth over humanity’s need to compete with each other by closing the gaps of how they started (and even them), wouldn’t that also affect the Pruning system which is based on this fierce competition of what is the best/ideal timeline consensus? Yes, of course, because that system reflects the present humanity mindset of competition to “survive” and divide themselves in winners and losers. In the long run, IMO, that would have been modified too. Kirschtaria doesn’t directly reference to it, but vaguely alludes to an answer humanity failed to reach which is linked to a lot of what’s happening too, including the “God.” Because Chaldea only had arguments for survival (to the point this is acknowledged by Kirschtaria’s description of what is defeat/victory for Chaldea and for Kirschtaria. To Chaldea, Kirschtaria says that their victory is survival, and to be defeated is to die; while Wodime’s defeat is that the Beast manifested and he couldn’t finish his plan). And business continues, as usual, I guess. It leaves a bitter taste when your supposed POV has no agency or drive to make any difference. It is frustrating!
I know I was harsh with this, and I also appreciate how Guda and Mash still try to help the people who they see in danger in front of them, but is frustrating because at the same time they are doing things to make themselves feel better knowing they are here to wipe them out. Like, you know, giving a starving orphan a candy to make then happy and go behind their back and pull out the resources of the orphanage they’re in to let them starve to use that money to buy yourself food, something like that. Even if you know they really need that money to not starve themselves for the possibility they can rebuild different orphanages, would you still consider characters who do that the same heroes as part 1? Hard to say, right?
“Far side is darker than Near side”, yes, but I think Nasu went a little too far. Because even if HF was dark, for example, I completely empathised with the difficult choices, while it’s harder now.
